I'm new ot Mumsnet and getting around,so apologies if this has already been talked about, but I'd love peoples advice... I had a thread on the non-local site so not sure if this will be a double up or not...
My son went to a montessori preschool in NZ, and we really loved it. I hear Albany Montessori is trying to setup a Primary school that will be state run, perhaps even by 2011. Any thoughts on this? they need the community to support them. If you are keen, go to thier website and fill out thier petition.... here is the link:

We moved here in July from New Zealand and my son will be starting reception in Sept 2011. We are looking to buy a house we really like in Leyland Avenue, just by prospect road. Our closest schools are St Peters, then Mandeville, then Aboyne Lodge. We will be .3miles from St Peters but have been told that's probably not close enough. We've fallen in love with the house, so still want to proceed and cross our fingers... but this is why we are keen to follow what happens with the Montessori school as well.
And lastly, what do people think of Mandeville as I haven't heard anything bad yet, just that it's got a bad rep from the past as it has an outstanding rating from ofsted now... I think we'd be happy there, but want to hear more. My only concern is that since there is a 2/3 majority of non english speaking children, do those who are get left behind at all?
thanks for your time.
