HypnoBirthing course: Katrina Berry @ Born

I'm thinking of signing up for a HypnoBirthing or Natal Hypnotherapy course. I'm not sure there's much to choose between them except NH might be a bit less 'American' but the most conveniently located for me is Katrina Berry who does classes at Born on Church St (see here). Has anyone been to this or any other local classes and have any recommendations?

I did a natural birthing course here at the active birthing centre in Holloway, it was brilliant and really made a difference to the way I coped with labour and approached the birth of DC2.

Hi there, I'd also like to know if anyone has done the Katrina Berry course and also the Active Birth weekend with Janet Balaskas. Trying to decide whether these would be a good use of money and would also love to hear about any other options in the Islington area or towards central London. I am 31 weeks.

Can't recommend the Janet Balaskas course enough.

My partner and I recently completed the hypnobirthing course with Kat. It was a great course, giving a space to think positively about childbirth, learning breathing and relaxation techniques, and chatting to other couples. On the down side, there is a lot of information to take on board, many exercises to learn and practice daily, and it is a bit American/ branded. However, I do feel happier and more confident that I have the knowledge and skills to approach childbirth in a calm manner. Both my partner and I were completely in favour of 'natural' child birth and concerned about the medicalisation of labour etc, so this course spoke directly to our perspective. But, I am yet to have my baby so can't comment on how useful these techniques are for labour.
