No idea - one at maize maze is sold out :( York is crap at bonfire night. Sorry not much help am i.

jooseyfruit · 01/11/2010 17:26

agree, York (birthplace of old Guido) is rubbish.
Used to be ok though, I remember getting shitfaced drunk at the Bonding Warehouse and watching the diplay at Cliffords Tower.

I hate fireworks but have to take kids or they will divorce me

Have seen some signs up for a big family night with fireworks etc at the Global Centre (old manor school) on boroughbridge rd - it looks really good. We thought of going but decided against as think it will probably give our 14month old some form of trauma!

oh I know where you mean. I will add that to my shortlist! thank you Smile

Would think of booking soon joosey - most of places near us have 'sold out' now on billboards.

NoahAndTheWhale · 04/11/2010 12:26

I can't decide what to do - DD (5) isn't that keen on fireworks and I'm not that keen on getting cold Grin. DH will be away this weekend and so I will need to deal with DS and DD myself.

The one here (Dunnington) sold out a while ago but I wasn't prepared to pay £5 each to watch fireworks Shock. Think there's something in Acomb but not sure which day or where or how much

Might just get some sparklers and sparkle them in the garden :)

NoahAndTheWhale · 04/11/2010 12:27

My first year at university had the fireworks at Clifford's Tower but they didn't happen there again Sad

MummyBerryJuice · 04/11/2010 12:34

We went to something at Castle Howard last year, I think. It could've been the year before though. It was cold and miserable. (Saffa, me i.e. Used to warm bonfire nights)

mungojerrie · 07/11/2010 18:36

So where did you go in the end :)

jooseyfruit · 07/11/2010 18:56

Harrogate! Grin
on Saturday, the council put on an amazing display on the Stray . Was brilliant.

On actual Guy Fawkes night me and dd wandered down to the Knavesmire and crashed other peoples fireworks displays! We were given some sparklers by a lovely lady (looked like she must be a mner Grin)

we had a fab time.

what did everyone else do?

That sounds fab. There was something in the Press today about the possibility of the council doing a big display next year, fingers crossed.

We watched displays from our window! But dd is too young really, next year...!

jooseyfruit · 10/11/2010 12:43

if they can do it on the stray in h'gate, there is absolutely no reason (that I can see anyway!) that it can't be done on the Knavesmire, just tightly restrict the parking and make people walk (shock, horror!).

would be ace I reckon.

how old is dd mungo?

OP posts:
mungojerrie · 12/11/2010 13:40

it would be ace. definitely do-able, just up to the council to fund it so i won't hold my breath...!!

She's 15 months.
