Any Advice? - Young couple moving to SE London.

Hi there, can anyone offer any advice...?

My other half and I are planning on buying a house and 'settle down' in SE London (we want to get pregnant hopefully next year).

We are after a 2/3 bed house for 250K (we are first time buyers).

I don't know the area that well but we like the look of Shooters Hill and Eltham and they seem good value for money.

Blackheath and Greenwich are lovely but probably out of our budget!

I'm not sure about Plumstead/Woolwich? Does anyone have any experience of living there?
Do you know what the primary schools are like?

If you have any ideas or thoughts I would be really grateful.

Thank You!
S

I used to live in Eltham, and later in Mottingham. Eltham is nice, much nicer than Woolwich or Plumstead.
Have a look at Mottingham Village too (not the big estates in Mottingham, but the older part near the shops and the park, by Eltham COllege). There is a lovely little primary school there too.

Hi, me and my boyfriend moved to Eltham from central London a year and a half ago as we also wanted to buy (and have kids - we had a baby last month :)). We discovered the progress estate here which is lovely and almost villagey in parts, the people who live in this area really tend to take care of their property. Your budget is fine for this area. We also like Blackheath, but as you say, alas it is a little more expensive!
