Hi, I was coping with not knowing anyone or going to any groups here as the weather has been so good for exploring all the great outdoors stuff. However here comes the rain and 'mummy I'm cold' times so myself, my 3yr old and 10 mnth old are keen to find local groups, hear indoor play ideas and meet some local Mums - please help I'm not sure how many more times I can play Fireman Sam games round the house!

Hi there, can't help as I'm not in the area but we are contemplating a move there and I just wondered how you were finding it and whether you would recommend (my children are about the same age as yours). Have you found anything to do yet?!

Bloodberrybatbait · 27/10/2010 20:02

Climbed - the pool in BOA is fab and has regular toddler times in the week. There is also a children's centre which is always a good start. here I am not far in De vi zes and have 2 yo and a 6month old (both girls)

Stillworried - we moved here because the schools are supposed to be really good and we wanted our boys to grow up near the countryside (we moved from Bristol). I love the area and there is loads to do when the weather is good and the boys love it. Now we're exploring the indoor stuff to do - will keep you posted.

Thanks for the info about the pool bloodberry. On the list to do this weekend. My 3 yo is only just 3 so if your eldest girl doesn't mind playing with a fire engine obsessed little boy then we're always up for a play at a soft play centre or something.

Climbed - there is a soft play in Melksham called Boomerang which has a great toddler area and a cafe which is perfect when you just need to escape the house. Wheree abouts are you in BOA?

JustGettingByMum · 27/10/2010 21:32

Have you tried any of the local mums and toddler groups? I understand the one in Holt is v good, (sorry my dc are teenagers so not much help to you). The libraray should have a listing of local toddler groups though, and certainly Trowbridge library has regular storytime sessions for pre-schoolers, perhaps BOA does too?

MogTheForgetfulCat · 27/10/2010 22:09

I second the recommendation re: the pool, toddler sessions there are nice, my DSs love it. There's a nice soft play in Trowbridge, too - possibly called Mooove?? Can't remember, haven't been there for a while, but had a nice time when we were there last.

Bloodberrybatbait · 27/10/2010 22:12

Ooh Mog - I didn't know about Moove - will be checking that out soon! DD1 like boomerang but it can be a bit big and noisy sometimes.

JustGettingByMum · 27/10/2010 22:14

Have you tried Jungle Jacks (westbury) or Coral Cove at Devizes?

sazzerbear · 28/10/2010 20:23

My review for local soft play, as always depends on when you go (clearly not half term!) Smile

  1. Moove in Trowbridge, excellent and not too big with separate area for little ones.
2.Boomerang is soul destroying as in massive warehouse and normally full of unruly kids - also lots of areas where they can quickly disappear and you can't see what they are doing which can be tricky with 2 of differing ages. However in its defence, it does have a good under 3 area that is gated
  1. Junglejacks - small and can be a bit overwhelming for little ones as not separate area for them
  2. Coral Cove meant to be excellent - not been yet!

Hope this helps (i've been there and done that!!)

Bloodberrybatbait · 28/10/2010 22:06

Sazzer - My DD has alway cried at the sight of Coral Cove [hhmm]. It has a tiny toddler area but overall is okay if not too crowded, can be hell when busy as it is quite small (the size of Boomerang before they got huge)

sazzerbear · 29/10/2010 17:07

Thanks for the info Bloodberrybatbait!

climbedthatwall · 29/10/2010 22:15

Thanks for all the soft play info everyone. We'll we checking them out soon. We have been to Moove and both my boys love it.

Bloodberrybatbait- I'm south BOA.

Hello! Wondering how you’re getting on in BOA? We’re considering moving with our young kids next year
