Pregnancy Yoga on Gloucester Rd

Hi, this is a bit of a long-shot, but I went to a really great pregnancy yoga class in the church on Pigsty Hill bit of Gloucester Rd, next to the Buddhist Centre in 2008. It was small, friendly, and most importantly, cheap! I am pregnant again and would love to go to classes ran by the same woman, but sadly, there is no trace of this class when I went into the church hall the other day and enquired.

Did I imagine it? Or, by a very long shot, did anyone reading this know the class I mean and know if they are still running anywhere in Bristol?

Failing that, any tips for alternative classes? I am not an experienced yoga-goer and would like something quite laid back and gentle.

I went to a class at the Buddhist Centre - run by a lady called Vivien Tallis I think, but I don't think she is running them there anymore. Is that the one you are thinking of?

It's not, it's in the church hall next door, but maybe I'll pop in there and see if they're still running them.

Thanks!

I went to a couple if it's the one I'm thinking off. St Michaels Church at about 6.30 I think. I am sure they had a poster up outside.

8rubberduckies · 31/10/2010 08:32

That's it Jenny, but the poster has gone now and popped in when church hall was open and who I spoke to didn't know anything about it. Do you remember what the yoga teacher was called?

Try yogawest further down Glos Road - they do pregnancy yoga. I go there for 'normal' yoga.

Thanks QueenofWhatever, I will check that one out.

I think the yoga you mean is run by Tessa - damayoga.com
I went there and really enjoyed it.
there was another one i went to as well at the Zen dojo on Glos rd near the bottom Somerfield and the betting shop it's run by relaxedbirthandparenting

Thanks so much maholo, that is definitely her, I remember her name now! If she's not doing classes anymore I will try your other suggestion.

There's one on Gloucester Rd with Sarah Lambert at the Zen Dojo on Gloucester Road.

Just take care - one of the pregnancy yogas my friend tried had them doing headstands!

8rubberduckies · 06/11/2010 14:08

That's why I liked Tessa's session in St Michael's Church, I tried a couple of others and found them a bit intimidating, as I had not practised yoga much before. That class was very inclusive and very much tailored to our individual abilities and needs. I don't think it's running any more, her website is down and my email to her was bounced back Sad. Thanks for all your suggestions though Smile.

I am not sure about the classes talke above, however, I do know that Uma Dinsmore-Tuli runs some really special classes at Yoga Sara in Bristol. These are nurturing, nourishing and a real treat for mums and babies...also a postnata and baby yoga class to go to once baby is on outside.... No experience needed-she is a very inclusive and gifted teachers. Hope this helps.

Yes, Uma does lovely classes. ALso Sheila Wolfenden does pregnancy yoga classes and also she runs a women's yoga class which is great for pregnancy too. She isn't on Gloucester Road though, she is in town at Yoga Space on Park Row. You can park next door though at Trenchard Street car park and if you park on level 8 you come out right by the entrance to the studio.
