Hi Frazby, no direct personal experience, but my nephew is in Y5 at Micklands and loves it. Also, he's doing well academically.

The only thing I know is that the intake is very mixed due to the fact that everyone in Caversham seems to be falling over themselves to get their DCs into Caversham Primary, The Hill, etc. But my sister and her DH have had a very positive experience with Micklands and my nephew seems to have loads of nice friends.

My sister is now sweating on trying to get him into Highdown in the next couple of years, which lately has become very desirable (due to Outstanding Ofsted and imminent conversion to Academy status).

Hope that helps a bit.

We're school seeking at the moment. We've researched quite thoroughly.

In my opinion there's a huge gap between the provision of different schools - not just in their overall performance but in the ethos of the school, their understanding of children's needs, rights and so on.

I have to say, I'm afraid, that of all of the above I have been most disappointed by Micklands. The head quite frankly seems pretty hostile to questions about school policies, which I think any sensible parent has a right to ask. Personally I think it's undersubcribed for good reasons.

It's worlds apart from the warm, knowledgeable, inclusive ethos of Caversham Primary for example - but then I guess why the latter is oversubscribed.
