New, a bit blue, and due in january

Hello, I'm new to mumsnet and new to Bristol. I've just moved down here to live with my boyfriend, in bishopston.

I'm 23 and 6 months pregnant with my first, due in late january. I know a few people in Bristol, but mainly through my boyfriend and definitely don't know anyone who is in my situation or who has been through it.

So I'm finding this whole settling in to a new place thing a bit hard. The usual ways of socialising, as I've just recently ceased being a student, are now not really available to me, i.e going out for drinks and using alcohol to aid conversation, so i feel a little bit lost as where to start to meet my own friends, and people i can relate to and those who can relate to me.

I've just started working in Pumkpin Patch in cabot circus, so i get to speak with lots of pregnant women and mums there, which is nice, but that's where it ends!

So if there were any suggestions of where i should go or what i should do to meet people, in a similar situation, age, or not then please tell me!

I enjoy a good cup of tea, visiting charity shops, eating food, going to galleries and cafes, and going for walks in parks (especially now as autumn is just around the corner, as it is my favourite!)

p.s i have a blog where i moan about these types of things

You will meet people at Ante-natal classes (either hospital ones or NCT). Once the baby is born the best way to meet others is to go to baby massage classes and toddler groups. It can be difficult to find the right one but persevere and you will find somebody you click with.

Hi Abigail, I live near Cabot Circus, am 26 and have an 8 week old son. Send me a pm if you want to meet up for a coffee sometime!

I've met a few new mums from my NHS antenatal class and baby groups at the children's centres nearest me (St. Pauls and St. Werburghs - they're probably the nearest you as well?).
