According to research that was published last year, one-third of local authorities in England and Wales make no provision for those who have suffered from domestic abuse ("provision" meaning specialist refuges, counselling services and so on). Refuge and Avon have organised a petition asking the government to address this situation, and today is their day of action for getting people to sign it: they're hoping to get tens of thousands of signatures over the course of the day. So if you want to send a clear message about the importance of domestic violence service provision particularly in the current atmosphere of Whitehall belt-tightening please sign the petition here , and pester all your contacts to do the same.
Refuge and Avon are also asking people on Twitter to tweet the petition link, and for Facebook users to change their status to draw attention to the campaign. So please indulge in some high-quality clicktivism.
