NHS dentist recommendation for nervous patient?

Gunhilda · 30/09/2010 14:17

Can anyone recommend a good NHS dentist in Cambridge for a nervous patient who's scared of fillings and drills?

I'm sure there are plenty of private ones, but I really need an NHS one.

Thanks

I think this has been done before but I love recommending my dentist - Richard Parry - Cambridge dental studio (Ithink it's called that) - chesterton road. He's changed me from a nervous wreck (along the way taking a tooth out...) into someone who goes 'oh, dentist today', I don't even think about it now. He is fabbo brill Grin

Thinking back to that thread, I recall that Richard Perry (also my dentist) wasn't taking on any new patients when this was discussed a few months ago.

Perry - argh, why oh why do i always get that wrong! Possibly true. Shame because I would recommend him to everyone who has any kind of detal phobia.

Perry doesn't take new patients, I tried but there is Monica, an East European lady, she is lovely. Cambridge Dental Practice in Chesterton Road, same one where Perry is.

Oooh, I was going to recommend Mr Perry too. He is lurverly. Although I was a bit freaked out first time I met him as he was wearing a hawiian shirt. As a very nervous patient, I preferred the white-coat-I've-trained-for-several-decades-to-allow-me-to-drill-in-your-mouth look.

Monika is really good, she dealt with a dental emergency (my three year old had a tooth knocked about after falling from sofa - she is a climber but has not stopped). My daughter was introduced to the drill and had eventually an extraction and she was OK, very sensitively handled.

They are taking new NHS patients now, saw board outside. They are just in Chesterton Road before Victoria Avenue...

Apparently you can text 'dentist' to 64746 to get a list of your nearest NHS dentists - this may give you a starting point!
