Nurseries / Childminders in Wimbledon area

Hello,

I was wondering ig anybody could recommend a good nursery or a childminder in Wimbledon? We have just moved to near Haydon's Road station / Queens Rd area.

I am super early as our baby is not due till 6 weeks time but I heard some nurseries can have a year's waiting list and I'm planning to return to work in September 2011.

Thanks in advance!

I'm a SAHM so I don't have a personal recommendation but my best friend sent her son to Dicky Birds in Queens Road (top end, opposite Centre Court) and was very happy with them. Also, other friends used Eveline Day Nursery on Quicks Road which is also good.

My DS goes to Wimbledon Day Nursery, on Montague road. Bit further away. Can't recommend it enough

Dicky birds on queens road is lovely, but beware, I went on the list at 3 months pregnant, planning on putting DD in at 12 months and I didn't get a place. Unless you start them off with 1 day and get onto their internal list, then you probably have a better chance of winning the lottery than getting the days you want. I am now using Dee's Day nursery in mansel road, it's lovely. I've heard good things about all of those mentioned above too.

Willows on Wilton Grove looks brilliant and for an Ofsted outstanding nursery seems good value. The down side is the waiting list. I managed to get in for sept 2011.

Thanks ever so much for your messages. I went to visit Dicky Birds this morning and really liked it. But as Felicity mentioned the waiting list system is crazy... They cannot guarantee a certain number of days but would recommend starting with few days a week when these became available and then increasing it when more days are available... I'm sure this will go down well with my employee when I can't go back to work as no nursery place.... Hmm.

I also visited the Play Days on Queens Rd and this could be an option.

I might pay a visit to the Wimbledon Day Nursery to see what that is like. The only down side to this is the location as its bit far from us... And same goes for Willows Or perhaps I'm just being demanding!

Has anybody got any experience with Eveline Day Nursery on Quicks Road, or Crown Kindergartens on Ashcombe Rd?

Gosh who would have known its so difficult and expensive to find a good nursery place!!

Hello....

Can anyone recommend me a good childminder in South Wimbledon/Colliers Wood area?

Many Thanks

My DS is also at Wimbledon Day Nursery and we love it. But I think it also has quite a waiting list. We signed up for this and Dickybirds when I was 5 mths pregnant and it's taken me until Jan when she's a year old to get a full time place. Could get only a day or two a week at Dicky Birds but they also have a nanny service which might be an option to tide you over.

You could also look into childminders. See www.merton.gov.uk/childrensinfo where you can search for childminders close to you.

Have just left messages with few childminders but they don't seem to respond.. Getting stressed.. Dicky Birds just emailed and they don't have anything available... Boo!

Jenni363: have you tried other nurseries for vacancies, like Dees on Mansel Road, Eveline on Quicks or Crown on Ashcombe (doesn't take children under 12 months though) which are all supposed to be very good?

Jenni363 · 26/05/2011 21:00

Thanks! DD is on a waiting list for Crown but they only take them from 12 months and I might have to go back to work earlier.

I'm visiting Dee's tomorrow and Eveline on Tuesday. Hopefully we'll figure something out soon, I'm getting stressed!
