Gym offer - too good to be true

Warning!!
If you receive a flyer in the West of Newcastle for a special offer £3.99/week gym membership, please note the following:
There is a 3 year minimum term
There is a £79 joining fee
Once you sign the contract in the gym there is NO cooling off period.
This means if you change your mind for any reason and call within 24 hours to cancel, they can keep all your money.

I did not know the above information and am now £79 down (they cancelled the rest of the contract as an act of goodwill) with NOTHING to show for it after good sales patter convinced me to sign a 3 year contract I would never have even gone into the gym for.

I have lodged a complaint to the advertising standards agency as the office of fair trading told me not displaying the minimum term could be seen as false advertising.
In the meantime I hope only those with the full facts to hand and who will definitely benefit from this offer are hooked in.

(I got a leaflet in town today for a gym with NO minimum term or joining fee for £16/month, that sounds a better deal by far!)
