Coleridge school again

Hi, sorry I know this has been discussed already but I'd be really interested to hear some up-to-date views on what Coleridge is like. Their results last year were pretty awful - only 39% got 5 or more GCSEs - so I don't really understand why there is a view that it's improving! We are in its catchment area and can't afford to move so we may be stuck with it, so some positive views from those who children actually go there would be great (please!).

Thanks.

I think the changes and improvements in results will take a few more years. I know for a fact that in 2006, every pupil from Morley went to Coleridge and most in the years since and that is a very good primary, so the resultsffrom their gcse's will not be out until (frantically doing sums....) ...2011/12. My son is due to go to Coleridge from Morley next year and I was also a bit Hmm when I saw the results but I have faith that the improvement will happen.

Thanks Coolma - reassuring to hear this. I'll go and have a look round and try to keep an open mind, but those results are scary. Also the fact that 55% of the childern taking those exams had special needs, which seems very high. Is that becuase they have English as a 2nd language?

Maybe I'll see you at the school gates next September - DS is also in Y6 (at St Matthews) so will be going next year.

Altho I guess parents don't hang around at the school gates when their kids are at secondary school - doh!

Quite possibly Grin. Isn't St Matthews actually the Parkside bit of the 'federation' (fgs!!) catchment though?

Yes it is - we live just outside the catchment area but got in by chance. Don;'t think we'll be so lucky this time.
