Hi everyone,

just after a bit of help, been looking around nurseries for my daughter as my maternity leave is coming to an end. Has anyone got any recommendations?? I have heard that Springlands is supposed to be good. Does anyone have children who go there or know of children who go there?? Any info would be helpful, due to go and look around in a few weeks but would like to know a bit before hand, fees etc. Any other recommendations would be really helpful, I'm in Stanway area.

Thanks

I have a little experience of Childsplay Nursery in Colchester(by La Fitness)My daughter went there for a short while aged 3yrs.Seemed a really nice place, well organised and really nice staff.Obviously had a "Baby room" which I have no experience of,but general atmosphere is really good.
They used to have a Mum,who was a French Teacher come in and teach some basic french. The fees were quite reasonable IMO,the going rate anyway.Smile

Both my children have gone to Springlands (oldest is now at school) and they love it (oldest is desperate to go back for holiday club). The care is fantastic I would definitely recommend it (especially since they somehow managed to convince my youngest to use the potty - miracle workers they are lol).

I would highly reccomend Childsplay and Kiddi Caru having worked at both of them.

I'm not a fan of Just Learning in Stanway but a friend has only positive things to say - saying that she was talking about the toddler room whilst I had bad feelings about the baby unit.

I also wouldn't put a child in the old school house either.

Cosgrove Lodge is a nice nursery - owners a bit odd though (used to work there) and 100 acre wood seemed nice too when I've walked around.

Are you happy with Springlands Twiglet - a friend took her little one there for a settling in session and wasn't very happy with it - barring that I have heard some ok things about the nursery :)

Holly corner Montessori on Shrub End Road is wonderful, or at least it was when my boys went there. I know people who go there now and have nothing but praise for it.

Older than 2.5 the nursery section of Colchester High School is ofsted outstanding and the lady who has run it for years is perfect.

Definitely happy with Springlands - the care really is brilliant and my kids have always been happy there. Occasionally parents grumble about various things (mostly the admin side) but I've never heard anybody concerned about how well the staff look after the kids.

Good to know Twiglet - I have never had any dealings with Springlands but have heard through word of mouth that they were ok, just spoke with someone a while back who was a little upset about the settling in period

:)

You've prob already made a decision but I will second Twiglet on Springlands - we've got 2 DDs there and they've been just fantastic. Really kind and caring, put masses of effort into planning activities and great at reporting back any issues sensitively. They have a training centre so their staff are almost all also in training for the next level NVQ etc which feels like a good thing. Ours have settled quickly and easily and love it!
