My 4yr old boy expressed a desire to go to dance classes last term. I was a ballet refusenik as a kid, so not particularly in my game plan, but he did a couple of trial sessions and looked both to enjoy it and to have a nice sense of rhythm for 4.
However we have hit a wall with the uniform. He's adopted and has had some difficult experiences, hence has some things that he finds difficult to cope with. One of them is clothing - he hates short sleeved T shirts. Obviously if he must wear them we have the battle (as in recent heatwave), but dancing is about what he wants and unfortunately he's now decided that if he has to wear T shirt and shorts he won't dance.
This feels really sad and I wonder if there might be a dance school around who could give him a bit of wriggle room - maybe loose trousers and long sleeved top?
