Day nurseries - north Bristol.

I finally got a job and we are re-locating at the end of Sept and have settled on the Henleaze area to live. I have looked at my workplace nursery - Woodpeckers at the MoD - but am not 100% sure if I like it. I didn't get the warm feeling I had when I picked DS' current nursery, but DH thinks it is because I looked right after a job interview and need to look again with a clearer head.

I am also going to look at Stoke Bishop Montessori and Manor House Nursery.

My question is, does anyone have any real life experience of any of the above nurseries as we will be new to the area and don't know anyone locally yet.

Many thanks.

I did some supply work at Woodpeckers and didn't like the baby room - too big, quieter babies/toddlers got a bit overlooked, and they seemed to be getting through quite a few room leaders. Don't know about the older children though.

A friend of mine used Manor House and was pleased with it. Have you also looked at Down's Park? link A number of friends have used it and been very pleased - it seems to be well regarded locally.

MoonUnitAlpha Thank you. Was it some time ago as they split the baby room in 2 groups now. I am going to take another look I think.

Runoutofideas I rang Manor Park but I just can't afford the fees. I will check out Downs Park also though so thank you.

Had you consider The Red House at Redland / Westbury Park? We've had really good experiences with them, good child to staff ratio, great, skilled, stable staff team, good facilities, get the children out every day - i could go on(!) but let's just say it's well worth a visit to see what you think.

Stoke bishop montessori is fabulous. Caring staff, excellent environment and great child-centred feel. Cannot recommend it highly enough. my 4 yo has just left and loved it - will hopefully be sending my other LO there next year.

Thanks everyone. DH thinks that the nursery at work is perfectly fine and that I need to see it again with a clear head so I am going for another look. I will be making appointments at some others too so I can compare - thank you all for your recommendations.
