Help! New To The Pickering/Malton Area!

Hailstone · 26/08/2010 09:14

Hi Everyone!

I am moving to a little Village called Thornton Le Dale in the next month or two. Its just east of Pickering, and about 10 miles North of Malton.

As I'm new to the area I wondered if there were any other mums netters around there? and if anyone knows of any good toddler groups etc?

I have a daughter who is about to turn one in September and we will really miss all our local classes that we go to! I'm down in Surrey at the moment but have finally convinced the husband to return to the North! Yippee! Can't wait just very nervous about starting a new life in an area I don't know very well! So any help/advice you can give me will be much appreciated!

:D

Hi Hailstone. I'm in Goathland which is closer to Whitby. Thornton le Dale is lovely and I'm sure there are a couple of good Mums&Tots in the area. I belong to theYork NCT and we have a local group that tries to meet up once a month, would you be interested in that?

I am also trying to arrange am local MN meet up in York so look out for the thread!

Welcome to North Yorkshire Smile

Ooooh, we're moving to Bootham in two weeks-and I have a DD that has just turned 1 in August. We're on our way up from Greenwich, so completely new to the area like you-although we've lived in Yorkshire before.

Let me know if and when you're around-would love to meet up, and am also keen to meet other Mnetters at the meet up. Count me in!!!

Hello!!

I am in Pickering, my 2 are a little older than yours at 6 and 10 though!

Happy to meet up for a coffee though anyway if you like?

MummyBerryJuice · 08/09/2010 10:35

Should us lot meet in Pickering for a coffee? We could go to the Cedar Barn?

Doucam · 13/09/2010 20:30

Sounds good to me!

I work part time, but can do most days at present, put some dates up and I'll see if I can get along.

Would be great to meet some new people!

Hi. My name is Linda. I am commenting on this thread as there may be people viewing it who maybe interested in a brilliant product I?ve found for Babies/Toddlers!

Ever tried to push a pushchair in the snow? Or on a beach? Ever tried to pull a baby/toddler in an ordinary sledge!? They just fall out! The Baby Luge is perfect with it's seat and safety harness!

It's 71cm long and 36cm wide.

I tried to get one for my baby last year and they sold out everywhere. :-( So this year I've placed a bulk order with the manufacturer making it possible to sell these at £25 each. Please get in touch if you would like one....they're £50 on Ebay!! (Type Baby Luge into the Ebay search to see a picture)

MY EMAIL ADDRESS IS [email protected] ? please do not reply via this thread as it belongs to another topic. Please e-mail me directly.

Get in touch if you would like one! And please don't wait until it snows as I will have sold out by then!

If you know anyone else that may be interested then please pass on my details at any baby/toddler meetings/groups! Mum's will love it!!

Also if there are any events in your local area and you would like me to post some flyers to you to give to other mums then I'm happy to pop some in the post!

The sledges are free local delivery to the Hull/York Area. Elsewhere will be £5.99 postage and packing.

They make perfect Xmas pressies for other babies too as most mums don't even know this baby sledge exists!!

I look forward to hearing from you

Linda.

Hi Cazinski and Doucam,

Sorry for the delayed response, we've been away!

Good to know there's a few of us out there that would like to do coffee etc!

Cazinski, I'll be new to the area too, although I lived in Leeds most of my life bar the last 6 years. Excited to be moving back up North, thats for sure!

Unfortunately our move date has been put back to the beginning of November so wont be free to meet up just yet! Hoping you all will still be free when we finally get settled in though :D

Hi ladies, this is my first time on mumsnet, but thought i'd refer back to the first question. I run a music group in malton and pickering www.littlemonkeysmusic.co.uk details of the times and places are on the website, but we have space for definate on a friday aft at 1pm in pickering.
There is also northern ryedale children's centre down train lane, and they run toddlers groups and the such. there's also the central ryedale one in malton, in the grounds of norton primary school.
Muffins playbarn in malton is a good place to meet people, theres also a soft playcentre on the industrial estate in pickering but i'm not sure if its open at the moment - jungle drums and all that!
Alison at the friends meeting house was hoping to restart the toddler group there now that the building work is finished - thats up nr the castle in pickering. ooh gosh look how much i've written! if you want a chat I know of loads more, but i'd best not clog this up, email addy is on the website and so's my number x
