Hi, my husband is starting a new job in Wokingham later this year and we will be moving from london to either Wokingham or Reading, not decided where yet. I have a DS 3 and DD 1. My main criteria is schools and ease of commuting for my husband. I have recently become a SAHM which is something I am getting used to :)

I have done a bit of research and it seems that aldryngton primary in reading and Hawthorns primary in wokingham have good results and ofsteds (discounted any church schools as my children wouldnt get in!) Does anyone have any experience of these two schools and the areas that they are in?

Also could anyone give me any pointers on good nurseries near these two schools? I am keen for my DS to start nursery in Jan, and I know the good ones have waiting lists so I know I need to put his name down sooner rather than later!

I am planning to go visit the schools in a few weeks time but it would be so useful to hear the views of people with experience of these schools. Thanks so much xx

Hiya,

My children have all gone through Radstock school, my eldest Ds 13 this year did outstanding at the school and they gave him opportunities in which to gain, my 2nd DS is now in yr2 7 this year and has gone through the pre-school, nursery and now school and my DS nearly 3 starts in January at the Nursery, all my children love there school, which is great so I have no problems with them in the mornings....YIPEE!!! :)
Aldryington also has a very good reputation, but that is all i really know about the school.
I live 20mins from Aldryington and 10mins from Radstock, This area is amazing for children there are alot of opportunities here for them and some places are really quiet areas to live in. Asda is only 15min walk the Police station is at the end of the road, there are about 15 different toddler groups in the area,
You can also get your DS into Rads Nursery if you only just moved into the area and it does not matter if they dont go to the school after.
Check out Radstock dont rule it out Mrs Derrick is a fab head teacher and knows every child and there family really well.
hope this helps
mary
