Hi everyone, we are about to move to Nottingham in the next few months as my husband found out this week that he has a job at the University. We currently live in London. I was wondering whether anyone could give me some advice on primary schools in Nottingham and where the nice places are for families to live in. We don't really have a clue and so far I have looked at West Bridgford .... is it nice here? Our daughter is due to start Reception in Sept 2011. Any advice on areas and schools would really, really be appreciated. Thanks:)

Hi
We live in Nottingham. West Bridgford is nice, most parts are quite upmarket which is reflected in the house prices. We live in the Carlton area, of which parts are good as is Gedling. Feel free to send my a CAT message if you want any further info.

Hello. We moved from London 10 years ago now. I had friends in Kimberley so moved there. It is about 8 miles out of Nottingham - quite rural and still very easy to get to the University. I work at the University too and it takes me 15 minutes to get there (after rush hour). The schools nearby are all very good. West Bridgford is nice and so is Wollaton. I like Watnall which is not far from us. Never been happier. Wishing you luck.

Hi! I guess you've already found your place in Nottingham but I just wanted to add, in case you (or someone in a similar situation) are still looking, that Stapleford is a good option if you work at the University (as I do, also). It takes 7 mins off-peak and 10 mins peak rush-hour to get to the University and park. I live in Stapleford on the border with Bramcote and I love it. It's close to the M1 A610 and A52 so there are great links N, S, E & W. There are frequent buses to the city and soon there will also be a tram link. It's very close to Beeston and the tram route will go through there and the University on its way into Nottingham. The George Spencer School, which is excellent, is in Stapleford and crime seems to be low (I've lived here 17 years and have never been a victim). The central areas of Stapleford are not so nice and look a bit tatty (hopefully that will change with the arrival of the tram - investment is already picking up) but the outskirts offer so much value for money. There's also a leisure centre, a large health centre, a library, etc. In addition, there are several parks and we're just a minute or two's walk away from open country walks. HTH and Welcome!
