Anyone know Woodcote?

We're looking at a house there. Thing is, the village (small town??) doesn't feel like it has a 'heart'. There's no real centre, with the few shops dotted round all over the place. It feels a bit like a nice suburb, plonked down in the middle of the countryside. But apparently it is an 'award-winning' village, and we're wondering where the appeal is. What's it like living there?

Hi ReshapeWhileDamp,

I know it a little. I'm down the road in Henley-On-Thames.

Woodcote is a rather pretty little place and has some stunning countryside around it. As your rightly say though, it's not the most happening of places.

Pangbourne, Wallingford, Henley and Reading are all within easy reach though and there are plenty of nice country pubs dotted around to keeps you going.

Goring is also has a few shops and is lovely for a stroll on a sunny day.

Where are you moving from?

x

Oops! Forgot to check this topic. Blush Thanks for replying.

I'm moving from Benson, so no great distance, but it does feel out of our immediate area (I know all the local villages as have friends in them).

In fact, we decided against the house in Woodcote in the end and have made an offer on somewhere else! Smile
