Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has had the chance to go to this softplay centre yet, I believe it only opened at the end of July. Looking for somewhere new to take DS(21 months)and really just looking for recommendations.

I am in the southside and usually go to Adventure Planet, runamok or the soft play in playsport.

Any advice greatly received.

TIA

Is the one in playsport happy days?

WHat about whale of a time in shawlands?

mummysgoingmad · 20/08/2010 23:12

try the new soft play in xscape, i know it a bit far but its fantastic. its called monkey bizness. i love it so much i bought the years membership

geordieminx · 21/08/2010 19:56

My neighbour took ds (3.3) to Animal Magic - he absolutely loved it - its owned by the same people as Rainforest Adventure in Motherwell which we like.

We've also been to the one at Xscape, its nice, but I'm not so keen on the lay out of the seats, its not so easy to keep an eye on little ones. Food also expensive and rubbish - £4.50 for kids hot dog and chips.

KristinaM · 21/08/2010 20:26

DH took out 3 kids today and they all loved it

much better than runamok, caper house play barn or sporty kids

giraffesCantDanceInBrokenHeels · 21/08/2010 21:13

i loved rumamock.

Theres one in motherwell that has a zip slide and trampolines up high, not sure what its called.

geordieminx · 21/08/2010 21:40

Giraffes - see post 19:56 - Rainforest Adventure - owned by the same folk as Animal Magic - think it has a zip wire too?

The food is good at Rainforest, and its always really clean with lots of staff to make sure no one gets carried away

I thought Aninal magic was good. Quite dear compared to some though. It has a separate toddler bit which is far better than others because there's much more in it. Toddlers aren't allowed in the main bit. We've been to Happy Days at Playsport but a few weeks ago and it wasn't really finished so won't be going back for a while.

foreverastudent · 21/08/2010 23:04

where is playsport?

giraffesCantDanceInBrokenHeels · 21/08/2010 23:34

Think thats theone at eastkilbride? nearb&q roundabout.

whenwe were there a wee girl fell and split head open andstaff faffed for ages ina useless manner and a member of publichad to do first aid. whenI saw I thought she was manager (normal clothes not uniform) so left her to it, but if Ihad known id have gone over. Parents were fuming as was the lady who helped saidtheywere useless. Also heard lotsof complaints about food. Frame seemed good. liked that they have seperate toddler/baby area from big bit.

giraffesCantDanceInBrokenHeels · 21/08/2010 23:35

Oh in adverts they claim to have go karts - haha its little tike cars in an area under the frame.

geordieminx · 22/08/2010 15:55

the motherwell one has proper go-karts, you stick £1 in and get a few mins. Think its £2.50 for a kids meal of nuggets or hotdog or whatever and chips and a squash

KristinaM · 22/08/2010 18:03

animal magic has go karts but you have to pay £1

midnightexpress · 22/08/2010 18:13

Oh giraffes, we were there that day - long waits for the cafe and the wee girl who split her head open - it all seemed really disorganised. It's a bit of an aircraft hangar too so really noisy. I was a bit disappointed.

We also like Sporty Kids in thornliebank (behind the McConechy's garage near Rouken Glen. It's quite small, but the cafe's good and the DCs really like it.

giraffesCantDanceInBrokenHeels · 22/08/2010 18:19

Oh thats funny that you were there that day too. We left at same time as ambulance. My lunch was vile, am not epecting fancy food but junk that tastes nice will do - this was yuck yuck yuck.

glasgowlass · 22/08/2010 21:52

Thanks to all for the replies, really appreciate your time....

Think animal magic will be our next port of call. Have to say have been put off the playsport one now, shocking stories on here re lack of first aid knowhow in the staff...I thought when we were up it was just because it was new that they seemed disorganised but there is no excuse for that. Having said that they tried to charge us for a non existant 8 year old when we were there with DS onlyHmm maybes they dont know their arse from their elbows after all....

Not been to whale of a time for oh about 11 years...was helping out at a friends daughters birthday party, cant remember that much about it, might have a wee look there too.

Hi,I like to use Jurassic Jungle in Possilpark. There is an area for under 3's with comfy sofas to sit right across from play area and large area for over 3's to play. Cost is low, they have a webs site if you want to check. I use it with my 4 year old (£3.50) and 17 month old (free under 18 months).

Woodsy1 · 18/07/2012 14:19

I would seriously rethink if you are planning to go to Animal Magic/Rainforrest Adventure. My mum took my 2 kids there yesterday for the first time. My 11 year old son was stopped by 2 older boys in the ball pit who were hitting/kicking him - no staff in sight. My mum was watching my 3 yr old daughter in the toddler section but noticed my son looked distressed as she glanced over so as she stood at the side of the toddler bit she shouted to my son to come out meanwhile my daughter escaped the small section - panic. No staff anywhere. I have been there before with the kids and there has always been someone supervising the gate. All they could offer when she ran to the desk was to put out a tannoy for her - BUT NO! (as if she would understand that, she has only just turned 3). Even althought here were 2 members of staff there and surely one of them could have helped her look. Other parents helped my mum look for her, my mum was in tears. My son eventually came out of the larger section with her luckily unhurt. NO HELP WHATSOEVER and when I phoned to complain to the manager he was not only unhelpful but uininterested - just told me that it is not their responsibility and to put it in writing.
I and my mother and children will not be back. This could have been a lot more serious. Soft Plays should have and generally do have a certain amount of staff in and around the adventure section supervising at all times.
