Hello!

Only just found this local section on Mumsnet but it doesn't seem to get used much.

Is there anybody there or is it just me?

I noticed that, perhaps they are all meeting up having a fabulous time rather than talking to each other on the computer?

Hulababy · 19/08/2010 08:08

I am not in Derby, but not that far away in Sheffield.

Many of the local boards can be quie, think most people still chat ont he main Talk boards. There are meet up sections on there too.

Madascheese · 19/08/2010 08:27

I'm near Matlock - with a 4 year old just about to start school.

We go walking lots, the child has a ridiculous amount of energy and I find constant trudging is the only thing that wears him out. It also seems to make all the questions more bearable -

Littlemad: 'why is infinty a concept Mummy?, What number is a googleplex plus one Mummy? What number is is if you take 27 away from a googleplex Mummy? Mummy Why are clouds white? Mummy how many p's are there in Misisppi?'

Me: 'oh look pretty flowers...'

Hello! I'm here too!

I live just outside Derby, near Long Eaton and I'm new to mumsnet and expecting my first baby on 21 September. :)

Helloooo Manx. Congratulations Smile

NikkiJF · 16/09/2010 16:27

Hi, I am new to mumsnet too and was hoping it would help me find out what was going on in the local area and to meet other mums. I have just moved from Hampshire and left the most fabulous bunch of friends down there Sad and am a bit lost without them Blush. I am in the Ashby area but there doesn't seem to be a local bit in here for my area.... Derby is the closest! If anyone knows anything (about anything really Wink) I would be really grateful!

Insanitybecomesme · 16/09/2010 16:33

I am here at least I think so(pinches self to make sure)

belledechocolatefluffybunny · 17/09/2010 23:34

Time for a coffee and a cake before the weather changes and we all freeze!!!

Hello Nikki. Do you manage to keep in touch with your friends?

Hello Insanity, how are you? Smile

sunshineriver · 19/09/2010 01:29

Wowee!
I'm inpressed how many local mums there are on here!! Last time I checked, there were hardly any.
I'm doing a group in Belper if anyone's interested, and will also be organising Meetups at Chatsworth, Alton Towers etc next year when I'm not so busy.
Opening a toy shop and it's just taking over at the moment!

belledechocolatefluffybunny · 19/09/2010 08:51

I know that feeling sunshine. I'm writing childrens books, it's a never ending job.

Meet ups are good. Smile

Insanitybecomesme · 19/09/2010 14:13

Just looked at my last post on here and ponders going back to school, seems I can no longer spell or punctuate correctlyBlush.

Meet ups are always good though my chances of making one is limited.

We are good Belle but chaotic, N is now at school and L is at pre school 3 mornings a week. The twins will be 8 months soon and Erin has started crawling so nowhere is safe.
How are things with you?

MrsNoggin · 19/09/2010 17:34

I moved from London almost two years ago. We are in Ashbourne now, but still don't really know many people- I must be really dull!

Would love to meet up with people for coffee, or softplay centre or something! Can't beat those ballpools...Grin

belledechocolatefluffybunny · 19/09/2010 18:59

We should arrange a date for coffee Smile I work from home so can work around all of you busier people. There's not alot of softplay here though.

We're good thanks Insanity. I quit the course and am now writing childrens books. I'm not as knackered now as I can choose my own hours.

madrose · 22/09/2010 22:56

KnackeredOldHag · 22/09/2010 23:15
