St Margarets - NCT classes

Hi
I live in St Mags (nr the station) and my first baby is due early Feb next year. I want to join NCT classes, mostly so I can meet people in St Mags.
Does anyone know if St Margarets mums tend to join the Richmond classes or the Twickenham ones?
Thanks!

I joined the Richmond classes (May 09) and flukily met a lovely friend who lives two streets away. I couldn't find an instructor nearby at the time (everything seemed to be out towards Hampton Hill or Hounslow) and I figured I was likely to spend more time in Richmond than Twick anyway. But judging by local mums I've met since having DD I think most tend to join the Twickenham branch and I would probably do the same if I had my time again. It's a bit of a faff arranging meet-ups with my NCT group (tend to meet near river eg Old Deer Park swings or Tide Tables) and there's so much going on for babies in this area that I don't venture across the river as much as I thought I would. (It took me a while to come to terms with the fact I didn't live in Richmond any more - maybe that was a factor too!)

Hi Holly

You can do any class you like, Richmond or Twickenham so long as you have space. Natasha who does the course bookings books for both areas.

You will automatically be allocated to the Twickenham/Hounslow branch if you join the NCT and live in St Margs but you can go to Bumps & Babies, Nearly New Sales, support groups at any NCT you like.

I'm in Richmond, did classes in Richmond and half the class lived in St Margs, rest in Richmond. There wasn't much on in either branch when we started tbh but there seems to be lots happening now and both branches have a facebook page and Twickenham have their Cheeky Monkeys Tea Party at the Little Gym in Hampton Hill on 21st.

Richmond NCT fb page is www.facebook.com/richmondnct. Have to say I've always found the volunteers in Richmond (don't know Twickenham lot) to be very normal, friendly people.

Thanks both for your responses. I think I will stick with the class I have applied for which is Twickenham. It's good to hear that I can join some Richmond events in any case. Thanks again.

You're very welcome. I know the nct bumps & babies group that met in kew yesterday only had one nct person there (rest non-members) and she was the parent support coordinator so kinda had to be there!

I think we're lucky being where we are that both branches are good at doing inclusive things for everyone. And they're not judgy about your birth & feeding choices. It is all run by volunteers so do bear that in mind and be prepared to roll your sleeves up yourself if you think there's something they should be doing that they're not.

The Richmond lot like a drink or two which is alright with me Wink
