Budget but Nice Wedding Cake and Flowers In Manchester Area?

Hi all, I wondered if anyone knows anyone who can do wedding flowers - buttonholes and bouquet - for a fraction of the price that florists seem to charge.

We're also looking for someone to either make a wedding cake or just decorate an already iced shop-bought one.

Another option is maybe getting in touch with local colleges and asking floristry/ cake making lecturers. Has anyone else done anyhting likethis?

We're very happy to pay - obviously - just not the silly prices we're currently being quoted. Thanks MNers!

Sorry. I got mine from a shop called Studio Flowers in Atherton and they were very reasonable but a bit far from you. Sad

I got mine from www.pure-flowers.co.uk/ in Cheadle who were lovely and reasonably priced (in 2005)Wink They delivered everything to the hotel on the morning and all the button holes were labelled with whose they were.

for my cake, I got it from a lady I worked with in Lancaster, who made a huge 2 tier cake. It still cost £200 though, because the ingredients for such large cakes are still expensive and she got someone to make the mose realistic roses for the top.

If you're considering a shop bought one, maybe check out getting icing flowers for the decoration and using Marks and Spencers for the base?
