Hello! Moving to Godalming

Hello!

I am moving to Milford, Godalming in a few weeks.

I have a baby aged 15 weeks and I'm feeling very nervous about leaving all my support (family, friends and baby groups) behind.

I have a driving licence but haven't driven for years and get the impression that I will need to in Surrey to get around. Am scared or feeling isolated.

Can anyone tell me about Godalming or Milford? Public transport? Are there good baby groups? Are people friendly?? Does Cheryl Cole really live there??

Cheryl Cole lives in Chiddingfold. Driving is a good idea as the countryside is beautiful. The train is good (as are buses but I use them less, ask my teenager about them). Practice first on the littel roads, and get some refresher lessons if you want. Do get confident enough for the A3.

I know the baptist church is friendly, and I think it has a toddler group. Go along to lots. I tried Tumble Tots in Godalming many years ago and found it a bit upper class, but people are generally friendly.

The only thing I would disagree with Mummytime is where Cheryl lives - she lives between Hambledon and Shackleford; if you go under the A3 towards Shackleford her gate is immediately on the right hand side. It's not a secret - it's where the paparrazi often are (and sometimes police too). A friend of mine went to her house and said it was LOVELY.

Anyway, do brush up your driving skills so you can make the most of the area.

have a look at this as it may have local info - godalming has loads of stuff going on but I am sure there will be lots in Milford too.

We are all lovely here.

Doh! Hurtmore and Shackleford, not Hambledon.

I thought she lived in Oxshott. Oh well, I know nothing about celebs clearly! I found when mine were that little that there are lots of baby groups - if you go to one you'll soon meet other mums in your area with similar aged babies. The local church is always a good place to start. But I agree that brushing up on driving would be useful. Good luck x
