Childminders - Horfield area - where to start??!

Hi there,

Might be a bit early - baby due in December and not going to go back to work until December 2011 ... do I need to worry about finding a childminder now? How do I best go about it and has anyone got any recommendations for this area?
In general - is childcare something you have to be thinking about while the baby is still a foetus??!! Some people at work really scared me with this...

Call the council's Family Information Service on 0845 129 7217 - they will email you through contacts for local nurseries and childminders and can give you lots of advice about waiting lists etc.

I've heard anecdotally that there's a high demand for childcare round the Horfield / Bishopston area (one woman told me she put her child's name down straight after her second scan ) but I don't know how necessary that was.

Wow that's crazy! I wondered if the putting name early thing was mainly for nurseries rather than childminders... guess I'll find out!
