Hi,

My husbands job might be relocating to Keynsham so I am trying to find out what Bristol and the surrounding areas are like to live in, good areas and ones to avoid.

We are looking upto 10 miles out to the east or south, southeast.

Any advice would be great.

Thanks

Jojo

Hi there,

I'm a Bristolian and although I was away in Surrey for uni, + a few years after, moved back to Bris as soon as I could! It's a great city - loads going on, but not too much that it feels too manic.

Not to be cheeky, but it might be worth saying what you're used to in terms of housing / social life / what's most important, and then we can advise a bit better (...I'd be happy to chat over the phone if that's helpful!).

Keynsham is basically on the edge of Briz, on the way to Bath. Clifton, Sneyd Park, Redland, Stoke Bishop, Henleaze are probably the most affluent areas as they centre around the Downs (amazing open space in the middle of the city - beautiful!). Great schools in those areas, but possibly a bit too far north if hubby in Keynsham.

Areas on the Keynsham side of town (still v.close to Bristol city centre), which are full of young families but built up are Easton, Greenbank, Redfield, St George, Brislington etc. If you don't mind being a bit further out - near the ring-road, but want some sort of co,munity you could look at Longwell Green / Hanham or Emmersons Green.

Anyway, let me know if you want a chat! I grew up in Stoke Bishop but my hubby & baby live in Redfield now, and other places in between

It's a great move you're making!
