Comberton Childrens Centre?

Our DD (2yo) is currently at Fernbank Childrens Centre nursery but we're thinking of moving her to Comberton Children's Centre in Clapton as it's the feeder nursery for the local primary (Southwold Primary)

I just wondered if anyone has any experience of the Comberton good / bad / otherwise?

Bumping as I would also like information about this children's centre, as its close to my IL's

Don't assume that you would automatically get a place at the school. Even children at some nurseries attached to schools don't get a place in the same school

Hi janx, I'm not putting her in with the purpose of getting a foothold at the school tbh - I just think it would be nice to for her to know some kids who are likely to be moving with her to reception class. AFAIK it's not a brilliant primary or anything, but it is so close I would be speechless if she was accepted anywhere else

Sabsfabulous, I've now made an appointment to visit Comberton on Tues so will feedback to you on how it goes

I have been to a mother and baby group there ( singing) on a friday and the staff seemed really friendly! One thing I have heard is that some of the the lovely large garden is getting made into another classroom.I live very close by and have heard a lot of good reviews!

sorry janx, I meant to feedback but we went on hols
I was really impressed when I visited and yes, the garden is amazing! They have put a little temporary classroom in the garden at the moment for the school nursery kids but it is beautifully done and not at all obtrusive.

However - the waiting list is 12 -16 months! I've put DD down and am crossing my fingers

My DD was there for a year until July 09. She still talks about going there and we often have to go back after school to visit. The staff were amazing, diverse, even have a very dedicated and lovely male staff member. I don't think the staff have changed much since. The parents and staff were really disappointed and concerned when it was to be amalgamated with Southwold's nursery. I feel that the site is now overcrowded and they built the new room outside on one of the few level bits of ground where there used to be a climbing structure. Even still, they have one of the best gardens in London I'd say. I would definitely send a second child there, just need to catch up on the effects of the merger with Southwold.
