I am in Oz and was wanting to buy some clothes from a UK website. It talks about paying for duties , import costs etc.... anyone got experience of what these costs entail and any advice they can offer. Thanks x

What's the site? I buy from Bravissimo regularly and never had an issue with hidden costs. I've bought from several American websites as well and also don't pay anything except the delivery charge.

(I'm in Australia too)

There is a limit below which you don't pay duty etc. I THINK it's 200 pounds but I wouldn't swear to that. Generally small quantities of clothing etc. clearly bought for personal use is fine.

Some sites are shockers for postage and packing - Toast for one.

I ordered some clothes from All Saints (under 200 pounds although I don't know if that's any kind of threshhold) and didn't incur any extra charges. I'm in NZ so probably similar to Oz? Always exciting to get a parcel! As I recall, the postage was pretty reasonable and they also knocked off the VAT I think.
