Living abroad/delivering in the UK

Hi

I am currently living abroad & am 9 weeks pregnant. We are planning to return to the UK in late September, when I will be about 30 weeks. Since that's not really all that long before my due date I am wondering if I should somehow book in with my doctor before I get back so I'm in the system/registered with the hospital/whatever. Has anyone any experience of this? Is it necessary? How do you go about it?

It kinda depends where in Malawi you are though... If you're an expat living in the capital with a great hospital that's the leading one in the country then fair enough, but if you're in the back of beyond then flying back may be a sane and sensible decision!

I agree frakkit, as I said, I have no wish to be argumentative for the sake of it. I shall post no more on this thread - although the impression that I got about malawi is there isn't a great hospital, only the one for the nationals which is very basic.

Hi Maswera, I've done this twice, from Lusaka, and then returned to Z 2 weeks later. Assuming Malawi similar to Z, you are making the right decision imo. If you want more info, please message me. Good luck! (it's not difficult, you just have to be organised)

Am living out side UK, am pregnant at 17 weeks , am a British citizen and have a valid UK passport , am planning to come to UK before my delivery date to deliver there. I don't have insurance . What shall I do to deliver my baby there in UK what is needed ? What the steps please?
