Singapore Clubs and Car Leasing

Has anyone from Singapore got any recommendations for which club to join. We have been given a "club membership" as part of the package, we just have to choose which one?! Any inside knowledge would be great.

We have also decided that it is probably best to lease a car whilst we are in Singapore as the cost of buying a car seems very expensive. Can anyone recommend a car leasing company?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Tanglin (if you can get in)

Google it, very old Singaporean upper class, colonial style. Love the Tiffin lunches. Great Tennis, too. Devoid of bratty, snotty kids but very expensive. Great security.

If you want a lifestyle club for the whole family I'd recommend the American club opposite. Lovely people and always parties, excursions, etc. Great for children and nice atmosphere.

Nothing good to say about the Brit Club or the Swiss/German, the first is full to burst and I'd advise you not to go into that pool, the latter just boring.

Also nice, the Polo Club but that's more specialized.

MPOV

Afraid I cannot help re car rental.

Thanks for your response, made me laugh - going to google Tanglin right away. Someone else has mentioned the American club to me, it definitely sounds as if it might be better than the rest.

Another one to second the American Club. Depending on where you are living the Dutch club quite nice too if you have kids and a bit cheaper than the others.

Re cars would do a bit of research on the web if you get an allowance might be worth buying with a good resale value car and low interest rates on car loans. Expat Motors has been recommended as they do everything - rent/lease/buy/sell and service has been good.

Dutch club, definitely. It has a diving board and really nice membership base. It's just lovely.
