Amsterdam - nice place to stay with dc

I'm taking dd to Amsterdamm for a couple of days in June to visit the Van Gogh Museum. We also want to do a canal tour and go to the Anne Frank house.

Can anyone recommend a nice easy-going place to stay with dc (she is 9 so not really small), perhaps reasonably convenient to those places or with good public transport connections to the centre of town?

I see the Van Gogh Museum is on Museumplein in the Paulus Potterstraat. The Anne Frank Huis is on Prinsengrach, about 20 minutes walk from the central station.

(I also posted this in shorthaul but wasn't sure if anyone would notice it there)

Not sure what your budget is so difficult to say.

Have a look on hotels.nl

Try and pick something southwest of museumplein, around the vondelpark/concertgebouw. Less crowded genteel residential area. Think of it as an equivalent to kensington/chelsea in London. More locals that tourists.And very safe

If you want to be on the canals, try to be in the nine startjes (9 streets) that run west/north between leidseplein and going towards the joordan ( that's the area where Ann Frank Huis is ). More quirky and lots of character.

I'm having a look at the vondelpark/concertgebouw area you mentioned.

I think we don't have to actually stay on the canals although we'd like to stroll around there during the day. Thinking a quieter, safe place for night would be good. We're not on an especially tight budget, happy to pay a bit more for a nice experience IYSWIM.

Trying to find out a bit about the nine startjes. Never heard of that area before. Also sounds nice.

this quaint and very quiet safe location

my favorite
I lived just accross the road. 5 mn walk to museumplein or De Pijpe.
10mn to vondelpark, 15mn to leidseplein and the canals central.
