Help - Singapore Mumsnet - Cost of installing air-conditioning?

I started a thread a few years ago now about moving to Singapore, which all fizzled out due to the global economic crisis. We are now back on the Singapore should we or shouldn't we treadmill again!

We have been offered a black and white house somewhere nice - although the main rooms don't have air-conditioning. Does anyone have any idea how much would it cost per room to add as the company is saying that it is our cost?

Im afraid i have no advice as i am in a similar position. My DH wants to go to Singapore - doesnt have a job offer or anything but knows people over there and says it would just be a matter of making a few phonecalls.

I just dont know what to do! I have two young children 3 and 10weeks and the prospect of being so far away from family and friends is daunting. Plus the fact that i love the garden and growing things - unlikely to have any outside space at all in Singapore.

Anyway - sorry to whinge on your thread - cant think of anything else at the mo!

Sorry for not responding for so long pooter. I have had lots of computer issues!

We are now all set to go to Singapore. Having lived in Hong Kong and visited Singapore lots, I am really looking forward to it. Depending on your budget you can get a house with a garden, especially if you go further out from the centre I think.

awayfromhome: I suppose it depends on how many airconditioning units you want, and how big the house is.

I reckon between $3000-$4000 (absolute tops with a good japanese make) from any of the electrical superstores.
