Suddenly feeling even further away from 'home'

With all the drama in Europe right now I'm really feeling that I'm no longer just a flight away should anything happen.

I know the reality is that I'm not stranded, when there are plenty of people that are. But should something happen, at this point in time, I can't get back home.

Anyone else away from their friends and family suddenly feeling how far away they are?

I don't particularly as we are only in Brittany, but my sister in NZ certainly does.

Not really, but then there is only the North Sea between me and my family: in an emergency I could get the train or coach to Sweden. Got back from Brittany without trouble the other day. And when dh and I were engaged, we could never afford plane fares anyway.

Though I expect it's different if you are a long way from home.
