Can anyone recommend a nice book for a birthday present for a child - something a bit special and classical with lovely illustrations. The child is too young to read so something his parents could read to him.

Editions Cerf Volant Grand Classiques - series of lavishly illustrated fairy tale books. I think the ilustrations are likely to appeal to children, and the stories can be read.

I just love the books published by Milan that are illustrated by Anne Romby - they are fairy tales, some very well known, others less so, others reworked but all lovely and detailed. Look for them on amazon.fr.
