We have been here ten years, and never actually suceeded in obtaining a ham ressembling a Christmas ham at home. I know, I know, lobster and all that, but I want a ham like my mum makes. We have treated ourselves to every variation possible on the jambon, jambonneau range. Delicious but not right. Has anyone suceeded where i have evidently failed?

Would love to know - I just wanted to buy the gammon or uncooked ham as I wanted to cook it myself and my butcher looked at me like I was mad. He told me there was no pig small enough that would give me the size I wanted (ie to feed 8 with leftovers). When I suggested taking a larger one, he suggested I give it some serious thought.

I found this site , but not in time for Christmas

Thank you. Am massively relieved to hear that it is not just us.
