French books for 5/6 year olds

We have been asked to contribute two books to the grande section library - basically every parent with a child in grande section does this, and we get the books back at the end of the year. In the meantime, the books are lent out across the year.

Has anyone got any great original recommendations for French books for 5/6 year olds?

We bought some 'Bing et Bong' (Tiny Planets) books when we were last in Paris . There are also DVDs - they probably came first thinking about it.

My DD (5) loooooves the Mini-Loup series. they are not greatly ..ahem...educational, but they're hilarious and all the kids love them.

How about a tranlation of an English book? Some of them work well in French eg 'Toc Toc qui est là' or 'le cadeau de Sylvain'

My DS just borrowed Ecoute, Emile from the local library and loved it.
(Think it's a translation, though. Probably called "Why don't you listen, Louis?" or summat like that in English)

Don't know if this is too young but we've often given DS1's friends a French translation of the Gruffalo book...

Max et les Maxi Monstres (Where the Wild Things Are) is good too, but they may be more likely to know it already?

Thanks everyone.

I ended up getting La Belle et La Bête and Fleur de Cendre. DD said the teacher was very impressed with how lovely the illustrations were!
