Any Mums in Sydney (North Shore)?

We're moving to Sydney in just under 4 weeks and I'd love to know if there are any other mums in the the North Shore area of Sydney.

We're looking at Manly but will probably end up in Mosman as it's a bit closer/easier to get to my husband's work in Nth Sydney.

I have a 6 year old daughter and a 3 year old son, and we're on the move, once again, this time from Italy.

We are sooooooooo excited to be moving back to Australia (we lived in Melbourne about 9 years ago) but I am desperate for company as it's one thing that I've been seriously lacking in over the last 2 years here in Italy, despite being of Italian origin and bilingual!! I miss having young (both age-wise and mentally!!) friends, the pubs, parks, the beach and the surf.

If there's anyone out there who'd like to meet up, please get in touch!

Emmis. I loved reading the thread you had going last year about moving to Manly or Balmain or Neutral Bay etc. Would love to know what you decided.

We are moving over in January from NZ (I'm from UK and DH is kiwi - we lived 10 years in London).

Our two will be just 3 and almost 5 when we move. I have been looking at Manly Village Public School for kindergarten. Looks good but is hard to tell. My husband wants to be walking distance to the beach. He is all about the surf. But what about Mosman? Neutral Bay?

Also for the 3 year old (who is 2 years away from kindergarten), here in NZ they get 20 hours government paid (regardless of parental income) at a childcare or 'kindergarten'. Is it purely private pre-kindergarten in NSW?

Enough about children Smile...

I'd like to be somewhere with older buildings and a bit of personality. I think Manly qualifies, but is that also Neutral Bay? Or is it only Balmain? Smile

I'll be working in the CBD when I go back to work in a year or so. What is the commute like from those places?

I am very excited to get over there but there is so much to think about. We only just decided to make the move earlier than intended.

We'll be staying in temp accommodation until we find somewhere more permanent. Your temp place in Cremorne sounded good. Can you recommend it?

Hope all has worked out for you. Would LOVE to hear how it has been.

Thanks,

Hi

We moved to Manly 7 weeks ago from the UK and we moved into a rented apartment in Fairlight yesterday! DS is 18 months.

We're not looking at buying anytime soon (renting our house out at home) but think we'll probably have to move out when we do! Unless we have a lottery win....!

Manly has a few really good playgroups, not sure about schools but have heard good things about Manly Village Public School.

We're having nightmares with shipping, not sure if our stuff has actually left yet, despite being collected 14th June Angry!! So we've had to beg, borrow and steal everything because we actually have NOTHING!

Hope you are getting settled x

Hi everyone Smile
We've lived in Sydney for nealry 7 years now and you'd expect we'd be old hands at it, but we have found it fairly hard to find a group of friends.

We have friends from work but they all seem to live in different areas mainly west not on the beaches.

So we're interested in catching up with other parents to make a group of friends to go out and have some fun with, with our kids and without!!! Occasionally haha

We've lived in Balmain, Narrabeen but have settled in Curl Curl. We have a 4.5 year old boy and a 5 month old girl.

Hope to hear from you all soon
Berni

berinbubs and Livinginoz - you could always come on the meet up in Sydney thread and we could try and organise something? Grin
