I would be most worried about the references. It is weird that they are both from hotmail as you would think that they would be from people's work e-mails.

chloe - I would be worried about it to - just out of curiosity - where is she from ?

I can recommend some agencies:

here

I have had a prac nanny from there and have had some mothers' helps as well. Very reputable.

used to work for them doing child minding

um i know but they are both au pair references.. one is the pa of someone in france and the other is just a family.. after all i use hotmail as my main account to havew.. but also have a bigpond account... ummmmm
have asked for the brisbane family to give me a phone number?
plan b maybe i can pay directly for part of the ticket? not sure if the travel agency will let me.
we are with an agency but i know they generally doent know much about au pairs history. have asked if they have placd her before and if they think we could safely contribute towards fare.
head hurts.....
i need to get work sorted again....

you can check the IP address that the emails were sent from. They will tell you the country, city and even the PC! If they are the same as hers then you know there is something suspect about the references and probably the au pair too

chloeb2002 · 10/02/2009 20:11

thanks quinne will do that! (if i can work out how?) the agency have placed her before twice and the last one was for two years so feel a bit better but my mum is going to meet up with her and book the flight just to be a bit more sure...

Ask for phone numbers and ring to check the refs, definitely.
