Possible job in Sydney - some questions please ...

I have an offer of a job in Sydney but need more info on the 'living away from home allowance' please.

The job offer says $750 per week housing costs allowance so, having looked on the ATO website, I think that is only what is taken into account in the tax computation. Having checked websites, to get anywhere with at least 3 bedrooms and a garden etc will cost much more than that; the agency say the full amount of extra living costs / rent is tax deductible not just the £750 pw

This will make a big difference to our net salary and hence the YES / NO decision so it would really help if someone can advise me on this ...

Also am i right in thinking that it will cost $1500 a week for a nice house, and are there any websites which I can research houses?

$1500/w is quite a lot - so it would be a nice/big house in a nice area.

I pay $650 for quite a large duplex - three bedroom in a suburb about 30 min from the CBD. Not the beach or anything but decent.
