Tax return for UK needing software?

Has anyone tried to do their tax return for the Uk from overseas and needed a SA109 / some kind of online software to complete it?

DH trying to figure out best options for him as he doesn’t have tax completion support anymore

We printed out the forms, filled them in and sent them to HMRC using DHL as recommended by HMRC (postal system not really a thing where we live).

It was 5+ years ago now, but yes, we had to pay for software each year to tell HMRC we didnt owe them anything.

We used sonething called ABC self assessment software - because it was one of the first alphabetically that had decent reviews!!!
