How long to receive baby's first passport (born abroad)?

Just wondering whether anyone had recently applied for a first passport for a baby born abroad (UK citizen) recently and how long it took? Stupidly forgot to apply immediately when she was born (she's 2 months now) so only just got documents in last week and we're meant to travel to see family end of July. Is it hopeless?

My son was born abroad, we applied for his passport when he was 1 month old. 1 month into the application they told me that they couldn’t accept the multi language birth certificate. It must be the foreign language birth certificate that has been officially translated by a registered translator into English. Once i had this certificate & translation i received his passport pretty quickly. 1 month old at first application, 2 months old when told different certificate needed. Travelled on passport at 3 months old. If you have sent all the correct documents then you may be lucky but could be tight. If they need anything else then you won’t get it back in time for end of July. Will keep my fingers crossed for you. Good luck.

Thank you so much, they've already asked for the translation (i wish they would make that much clearer on the original instructions!) And i should get it to them for Tuesday. So your reply gives me hope!
