Singapore - British International School Advice Please!!

We are moving to Singapore in the summer for my husband’s work and would be so grateful for advice about schools or anything else I should know. Has all happened really quickly and need to sort schools for my children and no idea where to start, already feel on the back foot!

I have three boys, youngest not quite 2 in September and the older two will be going into Year 2 and Reception in September. The three schools I liked most from an initial look are Brighton, Tanglin and maybe Dulwich but bit of a question mark about the latter. I’m a senior school teacher so will try to get a job in the same school though gather it’s very competitive.

Has anyone heard anything positive or negative about the three I listed or have another recommendation for schools? Thanks in advance!

Have a look at the The Perse School (Singapore). It's linked to the Perse School in Cambridge (The Perse School Cambridge) and has great pastoral care, they've also just fully had their campus redone. It's also not an overly huge school, similar to independent primary school size here, but they're expanding to offer GCSEs and A-Levels from this year onwards, so by the time your DC get to that stage they will be well established. Rain Trees International Kindergarten Singapore is a 12 minute drive away. Perse takes children from age 3, so your youngest could do a year at RT, and then transfer to Perse.

Hi, we just moved to Singapore (from Australia) and our kids (ages 12 and 14) are at Dulwich. We couldn't get into Tanglin (they tried to get us to pay a huge lump sum to skip the wait list which put me off). We looked at Brighton and it's lovely but very small and limited facilities. So far, so good on Dulwich but it's very large. In hindsight, I wonder whether Brighton would have been better for my daughter who is younger and finds Dulwich a little overwhelming. Happy to answer any questions you have.

Hi @Australia77 only just seen this - thanks for your reply! That’s really interesting about Tanglin and a bit of a shame that’s the game they’re playing. Good to hear that Dulwich is going well though I appreciate that it’s big - I think Tanglin is as well. The small size of Brighton appeals to me for my little one but I guess I have more concerns that my 7 year old would outgrow it. I think I’m going to end applying to a couple and seeing where will take us

Mine loved Dulwich, and that was coming during covid and before that from a one form per year primary school in London.
