Geneve Schools - English speaking

We are moving from UK, after living for 10yrs, to Geneva next year. Our 4yr old will start reception next year and we are looking for schools in Geneva. He speaks only English and bit of Hindi (mother tongue). Our income is 200,000 francs (pre-tax, insurance). We are happy to stretch and try for English speaking private school. Bit sceptical of very fancy IB schools. We would be living in Geneve cantonment. Any suggestions on schools and places to stay are highly welcome.

No idea op, but I'll give this a bump for you.
Good luck with your move.

I don’t know the costs but there are a few that teach in English

www.international-schools-database.com/in/geneva. This should give you a good place to start with.

Are you planning on staying for a while? At the age your child is at, they could start in local school..
and the establishment provides, according to the needs of the child, a parallel welcome class to help with their integration in French.

Hi, how long will you stay in Geneva? If you’re planning to be here long-term then it’s much better to send him to a local school. He will learn French extremely quickly. We have two kids here aged 4 and 8. Feel free to message me any time

Would you consider sending him to a local school?? I'm British/English, Englush mother tongue; went to a French Lycee at 4. Picked up French very quickly, and still speak it fluently (50s, live in Yorkshire, rarely use my French, but it comes back instantly when I need it). This was one of the single best things my parents ever did for me.

Facbook groups.. International Mothers Living in Switzerland and Geneva Expats are useful sources of information

Thanks v much all. We are still not sure how long we plan to stay in Geneve. It is a career progression move and eventually we see ourselves in a financial district (London, Dubai, Geneve, Singapore). We have never lived in a non-english speaking city so bit worried if we will be able to cope up and also how easily DS can transition back to a english medium school / University later on if need be. I think we should do some more research on local schools. I know Geneve attracts lot of expats. If some local schools have a bit of multicultural environment it would be ideal.
