Good morning Canucks. What are you all doing today to beat the heat?. I just hung out my laundry & I've had to take refuge in the kids pool I am melting. I'm dreading Monday 38° but will feel like 48° 🥵

Last night was the worst for me. Hoping to get some sleep as it’s been slightly cooler today. It’s been about 32 degrees in the house pretty consistently, only dropping to 29 overnight.
Vancouver was very quiet today but guess people are still working from home as much as possible. Fingers crossed it’s just going to be ‘nice hot’ by tomorrow!
Hitting a lake is always a good idea, but if it’s glacial it will still be chilly…

At grandson's graduation today in Vancouver, the graduates were in the school gym to get their diplomas etc., then came outside to the cheering families. They had a tent thing to shade us. Most people were not wearing masks (the grads were until they were outside).

This is in an area of Vancouver where most of the parents will have had at least one jab and older parents/grandparents two. I say this not because the vaccines were more available but I expect the uptake was high.

Our grandson has also had his first at 17. Our Covid numbers are low, and essentially zero in my area. I hope the homeless and others who are struggling have been vaccinated. They were offered the vaccines close to home before the general population under 80.

Lying in my hot bedroom, suddenly a vision of Gumby came to mind.

So hot I have flattened out. I am officially Gumby's grandma.

Its on UK news now, I hadn't heard about it until my insomniac wanderings on MN and you have been suffering for days now. Lovefall thanks for sharing about DGS graduation, I love this about MN just hearing about people's lives, I hope he had a great day.

I read a tip to help sleep, putting your pillow & sheets chilled for several hours in freezer or fridge can give brief relief. www.huffpost.com/entry/ways-to-cool-your-home_n_5516182

Lytton has burned down

It's heartbreaking

I am so, so sad. We can smell smoke here this morning. Literally praying for a real break in the weather. It is overcast in Vancouver but the air is very still.

Yellow sky and acrid smell…all around a weird Canada Day :(
