Best way to send a parcel to Spain

Hi. Now that there is 0% chance that PIL will be able to join us in the UK for Christmas I'd like to surprise them with a little box of gifts.

They live on an urbanisation in Spain and are finally getting a post box but apparently it is very small so a parcel wouldn't fit. I don't know what the Spanish postal service would do with a parcel that did not fit as I don't think they deliver to the door.

I looked I to getting a courier but the quote was £100.

Can I ask those living in Spain what is the best way to send a parcel?

Many thanks

Have you tried eg Parcel Monkey? (There are others too). They check prices with all the couriers. £100 sounds like silly money unless it’s a gigantic parcel!

Also there are - or used to be - man with van set-ups that shift people’s household possessions back & forth. There are English language magazines/websites which have ads?

Good luck. I’m sure you’ll be able to find a cheaper way, even under the current restrictions Smile

I have used Hermes international before (they will collect from your house) but that was between UK and Austria/France, not Spain - they probably deliver there too. I found it pretty cheap for the weight and reliable (parcels arrived without issue)

Parcel2Go are ones I have used to send parcels to Canada. Usually very reasonable price, a lot cheaper than you have been quoted!
Also look online at post office prices, they are often far cheaper than just going to the post office. Again I sent a 2 kg parcel to Canada and it cost £12 [ this was surface mail though ]

Thanks London and User. The problem with mail is that I don't think that the Spanish mail deliver to the door so I need to courier it.

I use DHL via Ryman’s.
Or you can also go to your local Post Offuce and they offer a signed for service in Spain, so you know it has got there.

You can use the post office like you would normally, if they have a small postbox the correos will put a slip in their letterbox for them to collect at the correos office!
