BBC news now on SBS in Australia

Disclaimer I may be late to the party on this and you all know about it, but SBS are showing the 6pm BBC News on SBS at 7am. Or get it on SBS on Demand.

For this Pom in Aus it's bloody great!

It has been really interesting and refreshing to see the ethnic mix on BBC News compared with our practically-white-only-policy on ABC & Commercial channels over here. Australia has some way to go to present itself as a multi-cultural society as shown within the media.

Re your other comment, I'm sure you're aware of the British invasion and the colonial history embedded in Australia's constitution?

YeahNahWhal yes, am well versed in Aus/Brit history thanks. My point is that if you look at Australian TV it is still so white. The ethnic diversity is minimal, Bill Bryson talked about this in his book Down Under (published almost 20 years ago) and it's still exactly the same.

I found it interesting to watch the BBC News as it highlighted how different things are over here.
