I have lived in Singapore before, when my dc were very little. My DH had an okay expat contract but no school places included so we went home before DD was due to begin school as we couldn't afford it and I was only doing supply.
I really miss Singapore and have looked around for jobs there. To my surprise I've been offered a job today in a small but growing international school which is in a cheaper part of the island (not central zone). But the contract is local only plus 2 free school places. No medical or accommodation included but a salary of 6500SGD. DH thinks his work would take him back on a local contract and salary would be similar to mine.
I'm keen but wondering if I'm mad to consider it? Would 12kish per month be okay (possibly one salary only for a couple of months)- I've looked at condos near the school and we could def do for 3kish as way outside central SG. We live quite frugally (not super frivolous) and kids obviously will go to school for free.
We did live on a similar salary before but this was all DHs and included an accommodation uplift and a (not especially good) medical insurance.
