Second Baby Due in France - Caeserean?

Hi,

I just wondered if anyone had any experience of this- I had my first baby in the UK, didn't dilate, heart rate dropped and ended up with an emergency c section.

I am pregnant with my second baby and it looks like we may be living in France due to my husbands work- up until now the UK doctors have pressed for a c section - if I was to move before the birth would France offer a c section as they do in the UK or is it very much have a go and might end in an emergency c section again approach? I've heard different opinions about caesarean rates in France so just interested to know what would be the most likely to happen...

Thanks in advance!

Suggest you join Message as it is packed with birthing and caesarean information, and support groups.

On a totally separate note, if you have this baby in France then (s)he will be British by Descent and there are restrictions on whether his/her own children would get a British passport.

My friend had a planned cesarean in Paris (for medical reasons). I didn't ask a lot about it but it definitely is possible.

I had an EMCS with my first in France and there was much debate over whether I'd be allowed a VBAC for my second, so planned ceasareans are certainly a thing.
