Considering a job offer in HK for the 2019. The DC would have places at Harrow International so it would make sense to live near there.
Does anyone know anything about expat life on this side of town? Is it an okay part to live in or is it better to live elsewhere and commute?

Hello,
Just come across your post.

We live on HK island and don’t attend Harrow but I have been to Gold Coast and it’s very nice, expats do live there and attend schools there.

Commuting is also normal for those who want to live on the island. And others I am sure travel to Harrow from other areas.

I can suggest you join Facebook group British Mums in Hong Kong and or Hong Kong moms plus search for Ruth Benny who is a schools advisor here in HK.

Good luck

Hi Tom, I don’t live on the Gold Coast but my children go to Harrow and we know some families who live out there. They all seem pretty happy, you do get a lot of space for your buck and there is definitely an expat community there.
It’s not for everybody - me and DH don’t drive, and I think public transport is pretty sketchy out there, so that’s not an option for us. But the area is booming, with lots of new housing developments going up in the last two years.
Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.
